Rave The Planet is one of Berlin's biggest street parades. It's an annual event that celebrates music, dance and art. Evolving from the earlier years of the notorious 'Love Parade', RTP has been a worldwide movement happening in Berlin since the early 1990s.

The original Love Parade was held in Berlin on July 18th, 1989. The parade was organized by Dr. Motte and Florian Hülsmann. It started at the Oberbaum Bridge and ended with a concert at Alexanderplatz. Dr. Motte and Hülsmann organized it for peace and love against the backdrop of the fall of the Berlin Wall. It became an annual street parade that brought together people from all over Germany to celebrate freedom, tolerance and respect for one another through music, dance and creativity.

The participants danced to techno music from cars that drove through Berlin's streets from Köpenick to Alexanderplatz. When they arrived at Alexanderplatz there was a party with DJs who played electronic music all night long until sunrise on July 19th, 1989. Over the following years between 1989 and 1994 Love Parade attracted 1.5 million attendees who danced together peacefully amongst the streets.
